Tourist Visa Application Requirements

ALL VISA APPLICANTS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATIONS AND PASSPORTS FOR VISAS TWO WEEKS TO ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE INTENDED DATE OF DEPARTURE.

  1. An applicant shall complete a visa application form in duplicate (2 copies) and attach two (2) passport size photographs which were taken not more than three (3) months from the date of submitting the application.
  2. A valid passport required for travel.
  3. An applicant should possess a return air ticket, which should be submitted upon request.
  4. A letter from applicant’s employer confirming that the applicant will return to the USA to resume his / her duties after the visit, or, a letter from the air line or travel organization guaranteeing onward or return tickets.
  5. A vis shall be issued "whilst you wait."
  6. If an application for a visa is turned down, the visa-issuing officer is not obliged to offer any explanation. An applicant may however re-apply for a review.

NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST INCLUDE THEIR PASSPORTS AS PART OF THEIR APPLICATIONS, AS ALL VISAS, IF ISSUED, ARE INSERTED INTO THE PASSPORTS.

ECOWAS citizens (Economic Community of West African States) do not require visa’s.

ln accordance with INTERNATIONAL SANITARY REGULATIONS all persons entering Togo are advised to be immunized against Yellow Fever, tetanus, malaria, cholera, typhoid, and hepatitis.

Do not submit your certificate together with visa application form. Keep it and present it at the port of entry in Togo. Following WHO guidelines issued in 1973, a cholera vaccination certificate is not a condition of entry to Togo. However, cholera is a serious risk in this country and precautions are essential. Up-to-date advice should be sought before deciding whether these precautions should include vaccination. Vaccination against typhoid is advised. Malaria risk exists throughout the year in the whole country.


Submit the following documents:

Valid passport for at least six (6) months (Before Expiration)

Two passport-size photographs of applicant. Should be taken at least within the last six months – color or black & white.

Applications submitted by mail must be accompanied by prepaid self-addressed US Post Office Express mail envelopes for return of passports. Only requests accompanied by certified prepaid return envelopes will be processed.

Other information:
Food drink: All water should be regarded as a potential health risk. Water used for drinking, brushing teeth or making ice should have first been boiled or otherwise sterilized. Milk is unpasteurized and should be boiled. Powdered or tinned milk is available and is advised but make sure that it is reconstituted with pure water. Avoid dairy products which are likely to have been made from unboiled milk. Only eat well-cooked meat and fish, preferably served hot. Pork, salad and mayonnaise may carry increased risk. Vegetables should be cooked and fruit peeled.

Other risks: Bilharzia (schistosomiasis) is present. Avoid swimming and paddling in fresh water; swimming pools which are well chlorinated and maintained are safe. Trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness) is reported, as are hepatitis A, B and E and meningococcal meningitis. Dracuncaliasis is common in the indigenous population, but unlikely to pose a significant threat to travelers.
Rabies is present. For those at high risk, vaccination before arrival should be considered. If you are bitten, seek medical advice without delay.
